Born and raised in The Netherlands, Jan and Monique with their 3 children moved to Canada and became proud Citizens of Salmon Arm. They find the Shuswap Area a most beautiful place to raise their children. They really enjoy spending their time together. During the summer months you will find them at the lake or on one of the mountains. They love to hike, mountain bike or just having a picnic and enjoying the stunning views. In the winter months they spend a lot of their free time at Larch Hills, truly a wonderful area when you are a cross country enthusiast.
After they landed in Salmon Arm Jan decided to join Rotary. In his opinion Rotary does amazing work for both the local community and Third World Countries. As a Rotarian he has contributed, for the benefit of our local Community, to the Fall Fair Parade and several fundraising projects like the Wine Festival, Home Deco Tour, the yearly Auction, et cetera. But above all he believes in the principles Rotarians try to live by: honesty and trustworthiness, both in private and in business life.
Before he became a Realtor, Jan was employed for about 15 years for a number of cities. Educated as a Civil Engineer, he worked 10 years as a Policymaker for Traffic and Transportation. The last 5 years Jan worked as a manager of Department of Operations with a staff of 25. In both jobs he has dealt with (re)zoning, subdividing and development projects. This experience is of incredible value, now that he works as a realtor and manager broker. His background and experience offer a distinct advantage to all of his clients in residential real estate as well as in commercial development.
Before Monique chose to be a full time mom for their 3 children, she had a career in the service industry. With her Hotel Management Degree, she worked for the Reservation and Guest Relations Department in a 5-star deluxe Hotel and Monique had the opportunity to assist many world renowned VIP's. In this position she polished her people servicing skills. As an employee for the largest Convention Center in The Netherlands Monique was involved in organizing the First World Aids Congress and the World Heart Convention. No doubt she is an expert in interpersonal relationships.
